Do you know what? This is the first weekend in a long time where I’ve gone into Monday feeling really relaxed and like I’ve really made the most of Saturday and Sunday. Whether that’s because I had a good balance of chilling out and doing stuff, I’m not sure. Whatever it was, I had a thoroughly good time and I am going into this weekend feeling super positive and just, you know, ready to crack on.
So, without further ado, here’s what I got up to last week…
By far the thing I was most excited about last week, and the most sceptical, was the return of the Great British Bake Off. It came back to our TV last Tuesday but instead of being on the advert free BBC, it was on the quirky Channel 4. I was expecting to hate it but in fact, I really kind of liked it. I mean it’s still the usual GBBO and that’s great but I think the presenters might take a little bit of getting used to. I’m already looking forward to tomorrow’s show though!
It’s not often I get to see a good sunset from where my flat is but once in a while, it’s so good it spills over and I get to see this gorgeous pink sky. This one on Tuesday evening was super special. So special I even missed the first part of GBBO to capture this on my phone.
On Wednesday Chris and I went on a little cinema date to see American Made, the new Tom Cruise film about an American Pilot who gets looped into trafficking drugs from Colombia to the USA. I wasn’t expecting that much but I actually really enjoyed it and would even go as far as to recommend it to people. So if you’re a bit lost for something to do one evening, go check out this film. It’s intense enough to keep you hooked but not so involved that you have to think about what’s going on every second.
Sometimes the opportunities I get through this blog absolutely blow my mind. The opportunity I got on Thursday was one of those times. I got invited by I Like Press to Hidden Harewood, an interactive food experience by the Harewood Food and Drink Project which takes guests around the estate of Harewood House to enjoy food and a delicious menu created by the incredible foodie talent that is Josh Whitehead. I’m going to be writing a blog post on it later this week so I can’t wait to tell you more about this experience!
After going to feed the cats at my Dad’s on Saturday morning, Chris and I took a little detour up to Yummy Yorkshire to get an ice cream treat. I had the Eton Mess ice cream in a chocolate waffle cone and Chris has Lemon and Ginger ice cream which I have to say I was pretty envious of. Unfortunately, there are no pictures because I was too greedy, and we were sat in the sun so they were melting!
After weeks of seeing the tweets on Twitter, I eventually made it up to Eat North and what a treat it was. I ate so much food I shouldn’t have eaten but it was so worth it. I had Chicken Parmigiana for my main dish of the day followed up by THE most mouth-watering salted caramel doughnuts with a crumble topping for dessert. I can’t wait to go again and the best thing is that there’s always different food every week!
There are many things I want to watch on TV at the moment so on Sunday afternoon, me and the boy settled in for an afternoon of watching Top Of The Lake: China Girl. It’s based in Sydney – so obviously I wanted to watch it – and it’s about the case of a murdered girl who’s been washed up in a suitcase on Bondi Beach. It’s one of those shows where you don’t really know what’s happening and when you think you do, something new pops up. It’s GOOD. We’re 4 episodes in and I can’t wait to watch the rest and find out what the heck is happening!
What have you all been up to? Do you have anything exciting planned for the week ahead?
