Ooh, guys. I’ve had such a good week. Well, really I’ve had such a good long weekend as it’s been my birthday! Yep, on Friday I turned 29 years old. 29!
That New Girl reference is never going to get old.
It’s been a good old weekend of eating too many naughty things, hanging out with friends and opening ALL the cards and pressies. There were a few days before my birthday though and this is what I got up to…
I know I mentioned this last week but I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to get back into netball again. It’s so much fun and it’s great to be around a group that are also eager to get back into the sport after being away from the court for so long. I also got asked by the coach if I fancied playing in the mixed league that happens in Leeds and although it’s fun to play for fun, I quite like playing competitively too so hopefully I can get involved in that.
After working our way through a couple of intense shows, Chris and I started watching Wet Hot American Summer this week. I’ve seen it several times but I forgot just how funny it is and it’s that perfect lighthearted entertainment that just makes you chuckle. Plus the cast is pretty great too – Bradley Cooper, Paul Rudd and Elizabeth Banks are a few of the huge stars in this weird show.
If you didn’t know already, it was my birthday on Friday and although none of the grand plans came to fruition – the pancakes ended up being porridge with blueberries and the paddleboarding ended up being a day in York – I had a great day. We had a lazy morning opening presents and cards, and then we got the train up to York for a day of wandering and a couple of drinks. I think turning older can sometimes be scary, but then it’s exciting too. What will the next year hold?
From some hot chocolate sticks from my best friend all the way over in Australia to a gorgeous print that Chris got me from The Lost Fox which I’d been eyeing up a few weeks ago, turning 29 was GOOD. I felt well and truly spoilt and made me realise just how many amazing people I have around me.
I love York. I haven’t been in so long, so after we found out that there wasn’t paddleboarding on at Pugneys due to maintenance, it was time to adventure to York. We had a walk along the walls, got some chips for lunch, went for a couple of drinks in The Fossgate Social and then in Pavement Vaults, and generally just had a lovely day.
As breakfast didn’t work out, it was dinner plans that were made instead on my birthday and I got to try out Mans Markets in Leeds for the first time. A little taste of Hong Kong? Yes please. It had the coolest atmosphere and the food was pretty great too. Perfect for a good meal and a couple of drinks! And the perfect way to end my birthday.
Saturday was my Dad’s birthday so as a little treat, I took him out to Ox Club for some brunch. The food never disappoints. I had pancakes with smoked maple syrup and fried chicken – super naughty – and my Dad had french toast with burnt rum butter and BBQ’d pineapple. Everything was so delicious and yet again, I had another flawless meal at Ox Club.
After a busy week and a busy weekend, Sunday came round and I felt exhausted. I was meant to go visit my Mum and Step-Dad but unfortunately my Mum wasn’t feeling well so we’ll have to rearrange. Instead, we mooched around, went for a little drink at North Star Coffee, and then had a lazy afternoon watching the Grand Prix.
Have you all had a good week? Let me know what you got up to and if you have anything exciting on this week!
