What. A. Week. It’s been a busy one, I’ll tell you that. From work to doing stuff in the evenings and a good weekend, it’s been jam packed. JAM PACKED I tell you. I am trying to save money though and even though it’s been a busy week, I think I’ve finally got the budgeting thing down so that I can seriously start saving for a house/going travelling/whatever else I might need the money for. But that doesn’t mean I’m being a little hermit…
Going out “with the girls” still sounds weird to me. Since basing myself in Leeds though, I’ve got myself a couple of good groups of girls to hang around with and talk to. It’s a lot different to being “one of the boys” and I fully enjoyed my night out to Brew Dog and Ambiente with some old work colleagues. The food at Ambiente is so good and it was nice to catch up and literally LOL over tapas.
Wednesday nights are for eating good food – homemade pad thai from the BF – and watching the hilarious classic, The Hangover. It’s been ages since I watched this film and I forgot just how funny it is. Plus there are references the characters make that I didn’t even notice the first, second or third time around so that made it even more funny.
On Thursday, I went over to Beverley’s for a catch up and a cup of cocoa and mint tea. It’s so nice just being able to pop around to a friend’s house, chill out and have a natter. Plus, after having my horoscope for August read to me, it sounds like I’m in for a chaotic month but we’ll see how that pans out!
If you saw my newsletter, The Sunday Session, you’ll know this already. Eurgh, this makes me feel gross just saying it but I went to the doctor for my IBS, and for what I thought was Eczema on my back but the doc took one look and was all like “That’s shingles”. Thanks to feeling a bit stressed recently and probably worrying too much about not much, the old chicken pox virus has made a return but it doesn’t come back as chicken pox. It comes back as shingles. I only know my Nan and my Grandad that have had shingles so I instantly felt like I was 60 years before my time when the doctor said that.
Because a good portion of crispy cod and salty chips was the only thing that was going to make me feel better on Friday. I have no regrets.
Oh how I do love a good craft fair and on Saturday morning, I went over to Northern Monk to check out Northern Craft and the Pin Drop exhibition and loads of cool stalls from the likes of The Level Collective, The Lost Fox and Or8 Design. I might have even treated myself to a cheeky something…
I know it’s a bit sad to spend a nice sunny day writing and reading but that’s exactly what I did on Saturday after running a few errands. It was really good doing some writing and catching up on my faves!
I feel like it’s been a while since I went out for a proper brunch to start the day off. Actually, the last time was probably when I went to Ox Club and that was months ago. So yesterday, I decided to make the most of the place that just opened up around the corner and go for brunch. It was a little unexpected treat from the boyfriend and such a nice way to start the day.
Sundays are for good food and blowing the cobwebs away and there’s no better place I love getting fresh air other than the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. It was great to get out into the countryside and there was also an exhibition on that I wanted to see by Ai Wei Wei. Sunday afternoon was then taken up by a rare nap, I blame it on the shingles and walking so far yesterday!
